Herbs & Country Bunches

I love good old fashioned country bunches. Bursts of colour and subtle fresh scents evoking summer and all the promise it brings. Warm summer days and balmy nights ensure there is no shortage of perfume flowers and foliage in the months ahead. Lilies, roses and stocks amongst others all in full bloom. Blend your flowers with sprigs of aromatic herbs such as rosemary, bay and sage for a magical summer scented posy or bouquet.

Informal posies are the prettiest of all in my opinion. Beautiful but simple, a handful of flowers looking as though they could have been freshly gathered from the garden. No need to over think these arrangements, a little bit of this and a little bit of that and bobs your uncle – you almost can’t go wrong. Height at the back or in the middle depending on where you flowers will eventually be sitting and what angle they will be viewed from.

Tall Rosemary works well at the back for structure or cut it down shorter and place a few sprigs around the front. It lasts surprisingly well – just make sure you strip the foliage that will sit below the water line as you would with any other flower. When you’re cooking your herb will be conveniently located in your vase if needed.
